Muntplaats: Trier. Muntsnede: TRP.. Voorzijde:
FL IVL HELENAE AVG , gelauwerde en gedrapeerde
buste naar rechts. Flavia Julia Helena
augusta. Achterzijde: PAX PVBLICA, Pax (vrede)
naar links, met haar ene hand een omgekeerde
tak vasthoudend en met de andere een scepter.
De openbare vrede. Referentie: RIC VIII
55 R = zeldzaam! Nadat Constantijn Licinius
had verslagen in 324 na Chr kreeg Helena de
titel van Augusta. Helena, die van eenvoudige
komaf was, was getrouwd met Constantius I en
de moeder van Constantijn de Grote.
Constantius scheidde van haar om vanwege
politieke redenen met Fausta te trouwen. Toen
Constantijn keizer werd, kreeg zijn moeder de
titel Augusta. Zij was al vroeg bekeerd tot
het christendom en werd later ook heilig
verklaard.

Concludo osservando che le caratteristiche
generali e di stile della moneta non si discostano
da quelle delle monete d'epoca di pari tipologia.
Mancano le caratteristiche fisiche, ragione per
cui non è possibile l'esame comparativo con le
monete autentiche del periodo. Nelle presenti
condizioni, se autentica, la moneta potrebbe, a
mio avviso, valere c.40€.

AVGustae - In memoria di Flavia Giulia Elena
Augusta, morta a Treviri nel 329). Elena, donna di
umili origini, era sposata con Costanzo I e madre di
Costantino il Grande. Costanzo divorziò da lei per
sposare Fausta per motivi politici. Quando
Costantino divenne imperatore, a sua madre fu dato
il titolo di Augusta. Fu una delle prime convertite
al cristianesimo e in seguito fu dichiarata santa.
