Inscription content: S C. Curator's comments. In
this fine obverse design the simple, bold legend
gives equal prominence of personal name and the
principal title of the Roman emperor. With this
focus, much more than previously Hadrian invites
association with the prestige of the first emperor
Augustus. Justice is one of a series of imperial
virtues with legalistic overtones on coin reverses
from this period. It is possibly in reference to
the contemporary legislation known as the
‘Perpetual Edict’ published by M. Salvius

Concludo
osservando che le caratteristiche generali e
di stile della moneta non si discostano da
quelle delle monete d'epoca di pari tipologia.
Mancano le caratteristiche fisiche e non è
possibile un esame comparativo con le monete
autentiche del periodo. Nel presente stato di
conservazione la moneta, se autentica, vale, a
mio avviso, una trentina di euro.

In assenza delle caratteristiche fisiche non sarà
possibile svolgere un esame comparativo con le
monete autentiche del periodo e nemmeno verificare
se la moneta sia
un asse (nominale un po' raro da reperire sul
mercato) oppure invece, come probabile, un
sesterzio.
(2) La moneta in esame si
colloca temporalmente nel periodo compreso tra la
rivolta giudaica (132 d.C. e il ritorno di Adriano a
Roma dall'Oriente (134 d. C.).
(3) La tipologia monetale in
esame fu battuta in tutti e tre i nominali in bronzo
che, all'epoca della emissione si distinguevano, sia
per il colore (similoro il sesterzio e il dupondio,
rosso l'asse) che per il peso.

Pater Patriae). La Giustiia è riconoscibile anche
dai suoi attributi, la patera e lo scettro.

(Senatus Consulto, per decreto del Senato).
Tra le novità introdotte da Augusto nella
monetazione è da ricordare il conferimento al
Senato della responsabilità delle emissioni
monetali in bronzo; ogni emissione ènea
riportava perciò sul rovescio la sigla SC. La
monetazione in oro e argento, che era priva
della sigla SC, rientrava nella competenza
diretta dell'imperatore.
